Blend & Bookstore Assistant

Title: Blend & Bookstore Assistant                                           

Classification:  Non-Exempt                                 

Supervisor: Blend & Bookstore Coordinator

 

Summary of Role

Responsible to lead the Dream Team, operations and logistics of the Blend and Bookstore under the guidance of the Blend & Bookstore Coordinator.

 

Position Status & Schedule

Non-exempt (hourly), part-time (25-30 hours per week).

Hours: Every other weekend Sat 4pm- 7pm, Sun 8:00am- 2pm, Tuesday 10am-4pm, Wednesday 6pm-7:30pm, Thursday 10am-4pm. Christmas, Easter and Dream Team Appreciation service dates and times are black out days for time off. There may be other events that you are required to work outside of your normal schedule, you will be informed in advance of any of these requirements.

 

Primary Functions & Responsibilities

Leadership:

·       Open and close as scheduled for regular services and events, ensuring spaces are cleaned and items are properly stored and secured

·       Build and maintain relationships with vendors

·       Receive and put away inventory and supplies

·       Ensure high levels of safety and hygiene are maintained in the Blend/coffee shop at all times

·       Use effective customer care skills in training Dream Team

·       Assist and remain present with Dream Team for all weekend services on a rotating schedule

Dream Team:

·       Recruit, train, lead and schedule dream team for all services and events that the Blend and/or Bookstore are scheduled to be open

·       Build and maintain relationships with Dream Teamers

Administrative:

·       Assist in ordering inventory (e.g. books, coffee, snacks, tacos, supplies, etc.)

·       Scheduling Dream Team

Financial:

·       Handle cash, receipts and money bags. Ensure the security of the cash registers at all times.

·       Enter Blend & Bookstore expenses into applicable procurement system and assist with matienance of up to date expense reports 

·       Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed

Competencies

·       An understanding of the importance of administrative preparation

·       Highly motivated with a focus on excellent customer service

·       Knowledge of inventory management 

·       Ability to work motivate and build volunteer teams

·       Possess working knowledge of standard office equipment and Microsoft software programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

·      Great communication skills

 

Education & Experience

·       1+  years of retail customer service experience.

·       Experience leading, scheduling and training team members preferred

 

Work Environment & Physical Demands

·      Must be able to stand (for extended periods of time), stoop, walk, and lift 20 pounds.

·      Noisy, open environment
