GENERAL WORK WEEK: Sunday – Thursday LOCATION: Argyle
JOB SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:
The Worship Pastor reports to the Pastor of
Production & Worship. The Worship Pastor will provide leadership and
direction for the Worship Team as well as cast vision set by the Lead Pastor.
The Worship Pastor will recruit, train, schedule, and lead Serve Team
(volunteers) and part-time employees assigned as direct reports to help develop
and execute compelling and participatory worship services as well as other
worship content when needed for events or gatherings. The Worship Pastor will
work collaboratively with the Pastor of Production & Worship and the Associate
Pastor to develop plans for worship elements (services, events, or other
gatherings) to stay aligned with the vision and mission communicated by the
Lead Pastor.

STAFF
EXPECTATION:
As a condition of employment with Cross Timbers, it
is essential (required) that employees and their families become active
participants in the life and ministry of CT.
This includes regular attendance to services and finding a way to volunteer
with a ministry not in the scope of this job.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
·
3-5 years’ experience in worship, understanding of
music, technical aspects of producing services, proven track record in leading and
teaching eclectic, creative musicians
·
Excellent vocal ability
·
Intermediate to advanced proficiency on guitar or
keyboard
·
Ability to read chord charts and familiarity with
Nashville number system (playing by ear is a plus)
·
Ability to pray and speak appropriately during
worship transitions
·
Knowledge of best practices in worship service
design, modern worship music, traditional hymns, and secular songs appropriate
for worship settings
·
Passionate about the worship of the local church;
be creative and always looking for fresh ways to engage
·
Willing and open to change, be flexible in a
variety of situations
·
A team player giving and receiving input, willing
to compromise & cooperate
· Exhibit clear and effective verbal and non-verbal communications
skills
· Able
to develop people and systems to optimize growth and effectiveness

PASTORAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
A Cross Timbers Church pastor exhibits the heart to
pray for, provide spiritual guidance, encourage, and lead people to Christ. The
church qualifies and commissions a pastor as an individual who has been given
the responsibility and or authority to administer in full or in part the
following:

Biblical
Teaching to the congregation or sub-part of the congregation (i.e., kids;
students; college, financial freedom)
·
Lead
or have oversight of a church ministry, program, or department
·
Perform
religious/spiritual functions of the church
·
Baptisms
·
Weddings
·
Funerals/memorial
services
·
Pastoral
(not licensed) counsel
A Cross Timbers Church pastor will become a part of
the Pastor On-Call rotation cycle which helps the organization accomplish and
meet the needs of various pastoral aspects in the life and ministry of the
church.
PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Supervise and manage the Worship team including but
not limited to regular 1:1 meetings with direct reports, providing
opportunities for growth and development through clear and simple goals,
responsibilities and expectations
·
Plan
and lead worship-related training for regularly scheduled Team Nights (Worship
& Production Serve Team development nights) in collaboration with other
Worship and Production staff
·
Develop
and cultivate an ongoing culture of songwriting, collaborating with staff and
serve team, to produce original songs for Cross Timbers Worship
·
Prepare
for and participate in weekly service production planning meetings and service
walk-throughs, including coordination with production staff to ensure lighting,
audio, and lyrical content is consistent with planned set list and other
creative elements within services
·
Oversee worship services for weekly in-person
services or other gatherings and events providing primary leadership to the
worship ministry communicating the vision as cast by the Lead Pastor
·
Recruit, train, schedule, and develop Serve Team
(volunteers) which includes assisting with determining Serve Team placement on
platforms. Also responsible for
following the PREP process for Serve Team including but not limited to running
and maintaining a cleared background report for every Serve Team member
·
Create and maintain a process for auditioning Serve
Team members that desire to be a part of the musicians or vocalists
·
Plan worship sets with direction provided by the
Lead Pastor and input from other ministry leaders and/or the Pastor of Worship
& Production as indicated
·
Communicate regularly with staff, Serve Team,
and/or other ministry leaders as it relates to supporting an event or service
including any details needed such as those related to a worship set including
song arrangements, leading assignments, parts, tracks layout, song flow, etc.
·
Assist with managing worship related expenses within
the parameters set by the direction of the Pastor of Worship & Production who
oversee the budget for both worship and tech.
This includes but is not limited to completing and submitting check
requests, POs or other documentation required by the Finance Department
·
Maintain worship-related equipment (drums,
keyboards, tracks rigs, etc.) in collaboration with the Production team to
ensure all is working properly and smoothly
·
Tracking—creating and using Ableton (or similar
programs) as needed
·
Responsible for all scheduling and verification of worship
staff and Serve Team at all in-person services, events and/or gatherings as
assigned including providing a worship team for other ministries such as CT
Student Ministry worship, CT College Worship Ministry as needed and approved by
the Pastor of Worship & Production
·
Oversee management of worship on Planning Center to
provide materials appropriate by established deadlines
o Or band/vocal teams, music management (charts, mp3’s, etc.)
o Scheduling musicians and communication with teams
·
Leading staff and Serve Team weekly rehearsals and
scheduled run-throughs
·
Provide leadership and recommendations for worship
tech purchase in collaboration with the Pastor of Worship & Production

WORK HOURS:
· The hours of work may vary within the 7:00 am –
7:00 pm work-window on a general basis.
The established work week is Sunday through Saturday for payroll
purposes and is based upon a 40-hour work week.
Full-time staff work weeks are categorized by position as Monday –
Friday or Sunday–Thursday. This role may
be approved for a flex schedule (remote and in-office work locations).
· A 1-hour lunch break is provided and required to be
taken by an employee. The actual time of
the lunch break is determined with the manager.
· The hours listed below are generalized work hours
and may or may not be done in the office depending on the needs of the position
and approval of the manager on any given day.
Employees must understand that ministry does not always fall within a
normal schedule and working outside of that schedule can periodically including
weekends, evenings and holidays for CT sponsored events that are essential
(required). Additional hours outside the
normal scope of the role such as these will be coordinated with the manager and
may be accommodated with comp time and/or a temporary adjustment to the normal
schedule.

General Hours - This generalized schedule allows
for the flexibility needed to fulfill a 40-hour work week in a ministry
environment. The expectation of a
full-time employee is always 40 hours of work.
o
Monday - Thursday, 8:30 a.m. - 5 p.m.
o Friday 8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.
o
Sunday 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. (hours will vary by need for
Argyle Campus)
o Sunday 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. (hours will vary by need for the Hope Center)
·
All full-time employees are required to attend
essential staff meetings/functions. All
employees will have various essential (required) workdays such as Christmas and
Easter services and possibly the week leading up to each holiday or surrounding
other essential functions/events. The
essential dates may vary for each ministry area. The schedule for these services or other
special events (in-person or digital) can vary according to the needs and the
yearly calendar as determined by Leadership.
Vacation and personal time should not be scheduled during those
times. Any exceptions or requests to be
absent other than illness must be approved by the manager and/or Human
Resources.
WORK ENVIRONMENT – PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
·
Position
requires bending, stooping, and stretching to file, and occasional lifting of
boxes weighing up to 50 pounds. Work is generally performed indoors but may
involve limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
